Outside EBI, Frank is a dedicated trustee and Vice Chairman for his alma maters, Boston College and Boston College High School. Frank also serves as trustee for Rockport Music, and is actively involved on the Advisory Board at the University Of Massachusetts College Of Management, where he has been named Entrepreneur of the Year. Prior to launching EBI Consulting, Frank worked as a science teacher and chemical industry executive for two decades.

John Nahill, Chairman of the Board, was appointed in 2025. He brings decades of executive leadership experience across consulting, investment management, and sustainable energy.

Nahill is Managing Partner at Seaside Investments, where he oversees a portfolio of investments across the energy, healthcare, and real estate markets. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Xpress Natural Gas, leading the company through significant growth and its successful sale in 2021.

Earlier in his career, Nahill held senior leadership roles at Devonshire Investors, the private investment arm of Fidelity Investments; Flight Options, where he served as President & CEO; and Raytheon, where he was Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development. He began his career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Nahill earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a BA in Psychology and Economics from Connecticut College. He is also a graduate of Phillips Academy Andover.

John McLaughlin is Chief Executive Officer of EBI Consulting, a role he assumed in 2026. He brings extensive leadership experience across multiple industries, including high-growth companies, turnarounds, startups, and multinational organizations. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Fidelity Life Insurance Company and Soteria Reinsurance, where he helped lead Fidelityís U.S. life and annuity insurance business and played a key role in launching its Bermuda-based reinsurance platform. He is focused on building on EBIís strong foundation to drive continued growth and enhance client service.

Previously, he served as Head of Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis for Fidelity Investments, where he led the firmís annual and multiyear financial planning processes and provided insights to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Earlier in his career, Mr. McLaughlin served as Vice President of New Business Development at Devonshire Investors, the private equity affiliate of Fidelity Investments, where he oversaw early-stage investments and strategic transactions across the portfolio. He later held senior leadership roles across several Devonshire portfolio companies, including Chief Financial Officer of Discovery Natural Resources, where he helped position the company as a strong competitor in U.S. oil shale exploration and production in the Permian Basin.

He also held senior finance and corporate development roles at Raytheon Technologies, supporting large-scale, project-driven businesses and executing key strategic transactions.

Throughout his career, he has built and led high-performing teams and executed complex initiatives, aligning strategy with execution to deliver long-term results.

He earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a bachelorís degree from Boston College, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Before joining EBI, Sam held senior positions at BAE Systems, where she managed complex financial operations for high-volume business segments. She was responsible for leading teams, overseeing forecasts and investment strategies, and supporting cross-functional leadership. With an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Southern New Hampshire University and a deep commitment to financial excellence, Sam continues to strengthen EBI’s financial operations and strategic growth initiatives.

Janet is recognized for her ability to align technology investments with business goals, delivering scalable solutions that drive growth. Alongside her technical leadership, she is passionate about mentoring and professional development, actively coaching the next generation of technologists and fostering leadership growth within the industry.

Jeff Previte, President of Telecom & Commercial, has a distinguished track record of leadership. Formerly at the helm of EBI’s Telecommunications division, he oversaw its expansion from a small team of 25 consultants in Boston to a robust force of 400 professionals across 39 states. Under his direction, EBI became a national leader in environmental services, offering a comprehensive range of solutions including Due Diligence, RF Safety, and Environmental Health and Safety.

Previte’s strategic foresight and adept management cultivated crucial partnerships with major wireless infrastructure developers nationwide, solidifying EBI’s position as the industry leader. His tenure also saw the successful expansion of EBI’s services into the retail sector, strategically positioning the Retail group for autonomous success within the company. With a Master’s in Business Administration from Boston College and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Geoscience, Previte combines academic prowess with practical expertise. As Chief Growth Officer, his commitment to excellence and strategic vision continue to propel EBI Consulting forward.

Meet Keith Spolan, an integral member of the EBI team, currently serving as Managing Director of our Transactional Advisory Services Practice. Since joining EBI in August 2001, Keith has played a pivotal role in various capacities, contributing significantly to the company’s growth and success.

With a background in civil engineering, holding both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Florida, Keith brings a unique blend of technical expertise and operational acumen to his role. Throughout his tenure, he has held regional and national practice management positions, overseeing operations, resource sharing, and program monitoring.

Keith’s leadership extends beyond traditional roles, as he has been instrumental in establishing processes and laying the foundation for new service lines within EBI. His keen understanding of business processes and their impact on financial performance has been invaluable to the Due Diligence practice leadership team.

Nick Ritz joined EBI in 2004 and has over 27 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry. He is responsible for directing National Environmental Policy Act regulatory compliance and Phase I Environmental Site Assessment due diligence programs for telecommunications clients, and specializes in managing large portfolio and build-out projects. Nick also facilitates the continuing technical development of the telecommunications environmental program, including procedural updates, technical training, and quality control, as well as identifying and implementing new technologies to improve efficiency and deliver additional value for clients.

Not only does Nick assist in establishing EBI’s standards and training for a wide range of scopes of work for wireless clients nationally, but he has amassed a number of certifications. His professional registrations include: accredited and licensed Asbestos Inspector, accredited and licensed Management Planner, and OSHA hazardous waste operations and emergency response.

Travis Goff is EBI Consulting’s Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), leading the development and execution of EH&S strategies to support client success and EBI’s goals. With over a decade of experience in industrial hygiene, regulatory compliance, and safety program management, he oversees services like waste management, spill prevention, permitting, PPE fit testing, and employee training.

A certified Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM) with an MBA in Health Management, Travis is committed to fostering safe, compliant, and efficient operations for EBI’s clients and internal teams. His leadership and industry insight drive effective risk management and operational excellence.

Kris Zaepfel joined EBI in 2023 with an illustrious career in strategic HR leadership. Her extensive background encompasses adeptly guiding HR teams through various organizational phases such as start-ups, periods of rapid growth, mergers, acquisitions, and transformative shifts. In her role as Vice President of Human Resources at EBI Consulting, Kris spearheads talent acquisition and retention strategies, optimizing processes, and aligning HR initiatives with our business objectives.

With her exceptional leadership and expertise, Kris provides invaluable guidance to our HR team in critical areas such as workforce initiatives, compensation strategies, diversity, equity, and inclusion, remote workforce management, and employee engagement. Her wealth of experience and competencies play a pivotal role as we navigate our continued growth and shape the future of EBI Consulting. Kris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Allegheny College and a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Bentley College. Additionally, she has earned the prestigious Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation, a testament to her expertise and dedication in the field from 2003 to 2019.

Rich MacAulay joined EBI Consulting over 21 years ago after serving in the US Navy as a Lieutenant. In the Navy, Rich gained several years’ experience in naval nuclear power plant operations, including health and safety programs and environmental site assessment experience.

As a Director of Banking at EBI, Rich specializes in servicing and managing existing accounts in the real estate and financial services program. Rich continuously plays an integral role in growing EBI’s client relationships throughout New England. Rich received his Bachelor of Arts in physics from the College of Holy Cross and works out of EBI’s Quincy office.

Caroline joined EBI Consulting in 2003 and brings over 20 years’ experience in project management, engineering design, property inspections, and related areas of design and construction. Her experience at EBI includes completing and reviewing Construction Plan and Cost Reports, Construction Monitoring Reports, and conducting Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments, Property Condition Assessments, and lead-based paint, asbestos and radon sampling.

As Director of Construction at EBI, Caroline manages the team, daily operations and staffing, is responsible for training programs, and oversees the various services provided to lender and investor clients by the Construction Services team.
Caroline earned a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and served in the US Army for 5 years before joining EBI.

Dan Balbo joined EBI Consulting in 2010 and brings over 17 years’ experience in construction management, engineering design, project engineering, and property due diligence in the Real Estate/Multifamily lending industry.

As Director, Dan runs the Agency Services Practice (Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and HUD) with personnel and clientele spanning the country. In his role, Dan manages the team, daily operations and staffing, is responsible for training programs, and oversees the various services provided to lender and investor clients by the Agency Services Team.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire, is a registered Engineer in Training, and has extensive training & certifications across OSHA compliance, ASTM standards, and multifamily lending.

Darcey Hott is an experienced operations leader with more than 20 years of success driving growth, improving efficiency, and building high-performing teams within the professional services industry. Since joining EBI in 2013, she has held a range of roles across sales, portfolio management, and operations leadership, bringing a well-rounded perspective to how the business operates and delivers for clients.

In her current role as Vice President of Real Estate Operations, Darcey leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for delivering tens of thousands of projects each year. Her leadership emphasizes practical solutions that enhance both the employee and client experience while supporting continued growth. She is known for building scalable operating models that increase capacity, efficiency, and output while maintaining a lean staffing model.

Throughout her career at EBI, Darcey has led initiatives to streamline workflows, improve scheduling and reporting, reduce non-billable time, and accelerate project delivery timelines. She is known for her collaborative approach, her ability to translate complex challenges into actionable solutions, and her commitment to developing strong, engaged teams.

Darcey holds a Master of Science in Organizational Development from McDaniel College and a Bachelor of Science from Towson University, where she triple-majored in psychology, sociology, and anthropology. She is based in EBI’s York, Pennsylvania office.

Neil Anders began his career with EBI Consulting in 2003 after establishing his career in environmental due diligence. His experience includes conducting, managing, and reviewing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II sampling, quality control, business development, and client communication. Neil received a Bachelor of Arts in geo-environmental studies from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, is trained in HUD lead-based paint visual assessments, and is an experienced Asbestos Inspector.

At EBI Consulting, Neil serves as the Director of Telecom Environmental Services, specializing in work with telecommunications clients and operates out of EBI’s York, PA office. Neil is responsible for managing staff and workload, ensuring timely project completion, quality control, and various other vital responsibilities.

Rusty joined EBI Consulting in 2006 as a Senior Engineer. As Director of Acquisition Services, he now manages EBI’s Acquisition Services team assisting buyers, lenders, and owners in evaluating the opportunities of diverse property types. In addition to client relations, Rusty’s responsibilities include financial performance analysis and management, as well as strategic planning.

Prior to EBI Consulting, Rusty worked in due diligence and environmental consulting in the Southeast and is currently based out of Florida. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Florida State University and received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisville.

Stephanie Penta joined EBI in 2005 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in environmental science and minors in biology and economics from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Stephanie has extensive experience in GIS and RF-EME. Working as the Director for EBI’s RF-EME Safety group, she oversees daily operations and technical continuity for the group.

She is certified in RF Site Safety Awareness and works remotely from her home in Massachusetts.

Kevin Sanders joined EBI in 2021 as Director of Civil Engineering, where he is responsible for the lead and overall execution of all the civil engineering and consulting projects with EBI’s wide range of clients including commercial, public and energy. In the role, Kevin manages the Civil Engineering and Planning teams, and is working to grow the team nationwide in the execution of design, permitting and entitlements, civil site design, and consulting, as well as consulting practices with other company divisions on climate change models and consulting.

Kevin has over 26 years’ experience in the Civil Engineering field, where he has authored numerous technical articles for magazines such as AUGIWorld (Autodesk Users Group International) and has spoken and trained others at industry events such as Autodesk University. He also worked on the Sterling Economic Development Committee, chaired the Fitchburg Conservation Commission for over a decade where he developed the city’s current Wetlands Ordinance, and acted as civil peer reviewer for municipalities such as Quincy and Medfield.

Kevin attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was also highlighted in New England Real Estate Journal’s “Ones to Watch” edition in 2021. He is based out of EBI’s Quincy office and manages all EBI’s civil offices nationwide.

At EBI Consulting, Peter Hosford specializes in evaluating risk associated with chemical use and exposure and provides environmental health and safety consulting services to manufacturing, medical, and biotechnology firms with emphasis on industrial hygiene and chemical safety. Peter is affiliated with the American Society of Safety Professionals, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and the New England American Industrial Hygiene Association. His certifications include Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Safety Professional.

Peter joined EBI Consulting in 2010 and has over 30 years of experience in environmental health and safety management. He has a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry from Bridgewater State University and a Master of Science in occupational and environmental health and safety from Anna Maria College.

Mike Eardley joined EBI Consulting in 2018 as the Director of Energy and Sustainability and has more than 20 years’ experience in energy consulting, commissioning, and mechanical engineering. Mike’s professional industry experience spans higher education, healthcare, laboratory, K-12, and government facilities. He is a professional engineer in Massachusetts and Maine, LEED accredited in building design and construction, and a certified commissioning professional.

Mike has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado. He is affiliated with the Building Commissioning Association, the Building Commissioning Certification Board, US Green Building Council, American Society of Heating, and the Association of Energy Engineers. He works out of EBI’s Burlington, MA headquarters.

Mike joined EBI Consulting in 2009 and is the Director of EBI’s Building Sciences practice, encompassing asbestos, lead-paint, lead-in-water, mold, PCB, and radon services from inspection to abatement management. He has 30 years’ experience in environmental and industrial hygiene consulting and remediation management. Mike has a long list of professional registrations and certifications: Licensed Asbestos Inspector, Management Planner, Project Designer, and Supervisor; Licensed Lead-Based Paint Risk Assessor, Lead Abatement Project Designer, and Lead Abatement Supervisor; Certified Radon Measurement Technician; and OSHA trained and certified.

Additionally, Mike has extensive experience with program management, client relations, product development, and quality control management. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland, receiving a Bachelors degree in natural resources management and has focused his career ever since on gaining more knowledge and experience dealing with investigation and remediation of asbestos, lead, mold, and other contaminants.

Vinny began his career at EBI in 2003 and has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental and engineering consulting industry and is now the Director of EBI’s Site Investigation & Remediation Practice. His experience includes hundreds of projects and portfolios in the disciplines of environmental and engineering due diligence to provide property valuation and assessment of financial liability. Vinny also has experience in UST/AST and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) management, remediation services, construction management, regulatory compliance, lead-based paint, asbestos, and radon management, and various other facets of environmental and due diligence management.

Since graduating from Clarkson University with a degree in civil/environmental engineering, Vinny has received the following registrations and certifications: Registered Environmental Assessor I, LEED-GA Accreditation, Licensed MA Title 5 Septic System Inspector, Licensed MA Asbestos Inspector, Licensed MA Asbestos Management Planner, and AIHA Asbestos Analysts Registry.

Nolan Previte, President of Real Estate, joined EBI Consulting in 1991 while receiving a B.S. in Biology at Boston College, and earned an evening-program MBA from BC in 1995. Nolan holds over 34 years of experience in the Environmental and Property Condition Due Diligence, Energy & Sustainability, and Commercial Real Estate finance industries. He began his EBI career as a field scientist, gravitated to business development and account management, successfully recruited and managed a national sales force, later led EBI’s entire due diligence program, and assumed corporate leadership in 2020, while creating successful partnerships with the most prominent real estate finance, global investment, and commercial banking companies in the United States. Nolan resides with his family in Massachusetts.

Jeff began his career with EBI Consulting in 2000 as an Environmental Consultant, managing and completing Environmental Site Assessments, subsurface investigations, environmental permitting, and remediation projects. Since then, he has managed several business units, including the Telecom and Retail divisions until his promotion to head of Due Diligence.

As Vice President of Telecom & Commercial Operations at EBI, Jeff oversees six practice groups spanning numerous client sectors. Jeff attended undergrad at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and studied both biology and environmental protection. He is based out of EBI’s mid-Atlantic regional office in the Baltimore area.

Samantha Provins joined EBI Consulting in 2022 bringing with her a wealth of experience in financial leadership within the Defense & Space industry. Throughout her career, Sam has finely honed her skills and expertise, demonstrating exceptional proficiency in leading high-performing finance teams and consistently empowering cross-functional leadership through strategic financial insights and analyses.

In her role as VP of Finance and Analysis at EBI Consulting, Sam leads a dedicated team of financial professionals, overseeing critical areas such as budgeting, regular reporting, and cost management. Drawing on her extensive experience, Sam is responsible for implementing incentive compensation plans, enhancing monthly business review processes, and strategizing for the future through robust budget and forecasting cadence.

Sam’s commitment to excellence extends beyond the workplace. She is an active member of the community, dedicating her time and expertise as a Board Member for Girls Inc. of New Hampshire. Sam earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in Accounting and Finance from Southern New Hampshire University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science/Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire. Based out of EBI’s headquarters in Burlington, Sam’s contributions are instrumental in advancing the financial landscape of the organization.

His technical background spans project management for remediation, regulatory permitting, and controlled demolition oversight for major clients across real estate, retail, and municipal sectors. A graduate of SUNY Oneonta with a degree in Environmental Science, Daniel is known for his strategic approach to risk management and commitment to operational excellence.

Aniela joined EBI Consulting in 2009 and has over 15 years’ experience in the cultural resource management field. Aniela completed her formal education in archaeology and exceeds the qualifications for an archaeologist as outlined in the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Guidelines. Her academic focus was human osteology, and she has experience working on both precontact and historic sites across the United States.

Aniela began her career conducting Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III archaeological surveys in the Midwest for a large-scale pipeline project. After joining EBI, she returned to her home state of California and was the Principal Investigator responsible for archaeological research, surveying, and reporting for telecommunications projects in the Western Region.

As the National Technical Director for Telecom Services at EBI, Aniela is responsible for nationwide project coordination for the Archaeology, Architectural History, Biology, NEPA, and Tribal Consultation Departments, which entails management of Cultural and Environmental staff; project specific scoping and proposal services; subcontractor vetting and management; establishing internal protocols; and nationwide technical direction with the goal of helping EBI’s clients navigate the environmental review process to ensure compliance with FCC regulations and NEPA.

Outside of work, Aniela is an avid runner, reader, and traveler.

Stephanie began her career at EBI in 1999 providing environmental and engineering due diligence to a variety of lending, investment and corporate clients and spent seven years as an in-house technical consultant for a high-volume national bank.  As Technical Director, Stephanie is responsible for the development and implementation of quality control and assessment programs for EBI’s environmental due diligence services including traditional real estate, agency and acquisition services as well as maintaining company compliance with industry standards and implementation of efficiency-improving process updates.  She manages the senior review team responsible for technical review of EBI’s environmental real estate due diligence deliverables.  Stephanie assists in business development and is responsible for managing practice-wide environmental training programs.

Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University and is active in the Environmental Banker’s Association and ASTM E1527 task group.  She works remotely from South Carolina.

Dan Smith is Vice President, Information Technology & AI Transformation at EBI Consulting, a role he took on in 2026. He brings over thirty years of experience leading transformational change in markets, business strategy and technology platforms. Prior to joining EBI, Dan served as Vice President of Gas Supply and Information Technology at Xpress Natural Gas, a pioneer in the rapidly growing market for over-the-road delivery of natural gas and renewable biogas. At Xpress, Dan oversaw all commodity transactions and risk management as well as the development of the company’s industry-leading platform for customer data management and renewable energy compliance reporting.

Previously, Dan served as Director of Natural Gas Operations and Business Analysis at Sprague Energy where he was a key leader in the transformation of the company’s retail natural gas customer business from a small regional provider focused on large end users to a diversified supplier to over 13,000 commercial, municipal and industrial consumers.

Dan holds a degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Matt Newton joined EBI Consulting in 2020 and brings more than 15 years of experience at the intersection of engineering design and commercial real estate due diligence. As Agency Technical Director for Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, Matt leads EBI’s national technical strategy and quality assurance efforts for multifamily Property Condition Assessments performed in accordance with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting standards. He oversees technical operations, staff development, and service delivery while advising clients on property condition risk, regulatory compliance, and evolving agency requirements. Matt also leads EBI’s in-house Property Condition Assessment training program, providing hands-on instruction to develop the firm’s next generation of property assessment professionals.

Prior to joining EBI, Matt held senior engineering and management positions where he led high-performing, distributed teams nationwide and conducted and reviewed hundreds of Property Condition Assessments across a wide range of asset classes, including complex portfolios, data centers, large-scale commercial facilities, and multifamily properties. He began his career as a structural engineer, contributing to the design and analysis of major infrastructure projects while developing expertise in structural engineering, risk assessment, and code compliance. Matt is a licensed Professional Engineer and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Villanova University.
